On Wednesday, November 6th, we'll load dozens of boxes of books into our horse trailer (yes, our horse books really do travel by horse trailer) and head south, leaving our Vermont-based warehouse and offices to spend five days at the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, MA. Each year we put together our "mobile horse book store" in the Better Living Center during the immersive equestrian experience known as Equine Affaire. There you can browse our bestsellers and newest titles in person!

Equine Affaire, Inc. was founded by Eugenia Snyder in Ohio in 1993 "with the goal of creating a first-class, education-oriented horsemen’s exposition in which horse people representing all breeds of horses and all equestrian disciplines would convene in a non-competitive environment and share their passion for horses," states the event's website. A second Equine Affaire was introduced at the Eastern States Exposition in W. Springfield, MA, in 1998, and both have been bringing top-notch clinicians, speakers, and vendors to their respective regions ever since.

We at TSB are proud to have had books by our remarkable authors present at every Equine Affaire since its inception, at first via the booksellers and vendors who carried our books, and now personally delivered by our dedicated staff, as well. TSB Managing Director Martha Cook has attended every Equine Affaire that has been produced in Massachusetts, so you can say this event is almost in our DNA!

In addition, TSB shares a similar mission with Equine Affaire, having produced educational books "for the good of the horse," for all breeds and disciplines, for almost 40 years. Our authors are often presenters, and we have discovered many prospective authors with exciting book ideas while there.

And here's a fun fact! Eugenia Snyder, who grew up to become founder of Equine Affaire, had a special "pen pal" friendship with beloved children's book author Marguerite Henry (Misty of Chincoteague, King of the Wind, and all your other favorites!) as a child, and she is featured in our new biography of Marguerite, entitled DEAR READERS AND RIDERS by Wall Street Journal columnist Lettie Teague.

Lettie is one of our many authors in attendance at EA MA this year. Be sure to catch her discussion of Marguerite Henry's life and the fascinating stories she unearthed during her research for her book at the Seminar Stage on Saturday at noon. Lettie will then be signing books and answering questions at the TSB booth #840 in the Better Living Center immediately following.

Also stop by our booth to find out when you can meet our other author/presenters, including:

(Visit the EA website HERE to view and download the four-day schedule and look for your favorite clinician or speaker.)

Plus, we have a brand new FERGUS THE HORSE photo op, sales bins with incredible markdowns, giveaways, "Blind Date with a Horse Book," and more!

We can't wait to see you, hear about the books you're loving and the ones you'd really like to see us publish!
